Wood opal is a form of petrified wood which has developed an opalescent sheen or, more rarely, where the wood has been completely replaced by opal. I found this piece on my trip to Tucson this February and I thought it deserved it’s own unique setting.

The setting hugs the top and the bottom of the fossilized wood opal, and is reminiscent of a Spartan helmet. It is a gorgeous blue, green, and brown color. Very similar looking to a Peruvian Opal.

Petrified wood is said to be able to assist anyone who is feeling stuck or experiencing being frozen in time. It helps to create balance and offers a foundation from which to launch new goals or undertake a different path. Petrified wood is also a wonderful grounding stone. It helps to calm scattered energies.
